So, you're looking for a new game. That's great. I enjoy the occasional game every so often and I believe I can help you out. With so many games on the market on a wide array of platforms, how does one decide on a single title? Well, luckily for you, there's a rather small set of parameters which will narrow your search considerably.

The best part is, the parameters are all set by you. That's right, you. Your own personal interests will play the biggest roll in choosing your next gaming adventure. Sure you could do Google searches for 'games to try out' and the like, or you could stick to what you find enjoyable. Doing so is simple, as all you need to do is answer three simple questions. What genre of game do I enjoy the most? On which platform do I wish to play this game? How much do I have to invest in this game?

Now, the first question is easy seeing as it plays off your direct interests. Do you like the fast paced action of a first person shooter or fighting game? Or would you rather be a mythical character on a magical quest in an expansive adventure game or RPG? Maybe you're someone that loves to play with loads of friends in an open world. This first decision will make things much easier for you as far as choosing a game goes. Of course, there are those that aren't as easy to pin down. Like say, someone that likes first person shooters but also wants an open world to explore. That narrows the field even more. Some may want a wacky shooter that could provide fun for the whole family. There are games out there to fill almost every need and there's bound to be one meant for you.

In order to answer the second question, you must first take a survey of the consoles you own. Some may own one or two, some may own them all, and some may be exclusively computer gamers. The platform you choose will narrow your choices even further, as some games come exclusive to certain platforms and some are much better on other platforms. Now, for the sake of this discussion, let's say you're a huge MMORPG player with a high interest in a more fantasy-based adventure. Now that limits you to one platform, computer. Since we have now chosen a platform and a specific type of game, our pool has shrunk to a minuscule size compared to the vast array of games to choose from. We're now one step away from choosing the perfect title for you.

The discussion of price is always prevalent to gamers as it is to anyone buying consumer goods. There are those with a wide enough budget to literally afford any game they wish. In the same token, there are those that don't have a dime to spare and would prefer to game on a tight budget. Somewhere in between those two extremes is you: the moderate income gamer whose budget for gaming is a bit on the strict side. You can afford to splurge every so often, but only when you're in a financially stable part the year.

So, within your gaming parameters, you must find a game with a small one time fee. Something free to play would also be ideal. This, combined with the genre and platform have made your search quite easy. Pretty soon, you'll be on your way to running about as a blood elf or popori defeating bosses, getting loot, and enjoying the camaraderie that comes with MMORPGs.

The next time you think you need to search for games to try out, you should think about these three simple questions and use the answers to guide your search. Who knows? It could even lead you to your next addiction.
